As a tenant with an assured shorthold tenancy, what is my legal position if the property is repossessed?
As a tenant, if I have signed an assured shorthold tenancy contract for a property, what is my legal position if the property is repossessed? Are the new owners obliged to honour the contract and let me stay in the property to the end of the tenancy?
You should have been given notice of the Mortgage Company's right to take possession. If not, then you have a claim for damages - being the cost of finding alternative accommodation.
